Police Station Drama Ends in Divorce Warning

INT. LIVING ROOM – EVENING

Dim light spills across a tense, quiet room. The air feels heavy, like something is about to break.

The front door opens abruptly.

JADEN
(voice shaky, breathless)
Dad… something’s wrong.

Larry looks up from the couch, his expression shifting from calm to alert.

LARRY
What happened?

Jaden steps forward, anxiety written all over his face.

JADEN
The police… they took Mom. They took her to the station.

A long, deafening silence follows.

Larry freezes. His jaw tightens. His eyes darken.

LARRY
(quiet, dangerous)
What did you just say?

JADEN
I saw it. They came… and took her away.

Larry slowly stands up. His calm exterior cracks, revealing rising anger.

Across the room, Bethany stands still, watching. Her face is tense, but she says nothing.

Larry turns his gaze toward her.

LARRY
Bethany.

She doesn’t respond immediately.

LARRY
(voice sharper)
Did you do this?

Bethany crosses her arms, defensive.

BETHANY
I didn’t “do” anything. I just told the truth.

Larry takes a step closer. His presence grows intimidating.

LARRY
The truth? You call this the truth?

BETHANY
(slightly raising her voice)
Yes. She crossed the line, Larry. Someone had to—

LARRY
(cutting her off)
So you called the police?

Bethany hesitates. That hesitation is enough.

Larry exhales deeply, trying to contain his anger—but it only makes it worse.

LARRY
You had her arrested.

Jaden looks between them, confused and scared.

JADEN
Why would you do that?

Bethany avoids his eyes.

BETHANY
It wasn’t supposed to go this far.

Larry lets out a bitter laugh.

LARRY
But it did.

He runs a hand through his head, pacing slightly.

LARRY
Do you even realize what you’ve done?

BETHANY
(defensive again)
She deserved consequences!

Larry stops pacing. His voice drops, colder than before.

LARRY
Not like this.

A tense pause fills the room.

Jaden clenches his fists.

JADEN
We need to get her out.

Larry nods slowly, but his eyes remain locked on Bethany.

LARRY
Yeah. We do.

Another beat of silence.

Then—

LARRY
But first… this ends here.

Bethany frowns slightly.

BETHANY
What do you mean?

Larry steps closer, his tone now firm, final.

LARRY
You’re going to withdraw the case.

Bethany’s eyes widen.

BETHANY
What?

LARRY
You heard me.

BETHANY
No. I’m not doing that.

The tension spikes instantly.

LARRY
(voice rising)
You don’t get to make that choice anymore.

BETHANY
I had every right—

LARRY
(shouting)
And now you’re going to fix it!

Jaden flinches at the sudden outburst.

Bethany stands her ground, though her confidence is starting to crack.

BETHANY
You’re overreacting.

Larry stares at her, disbelief turning into something colder.

LARRY
Overreacting?

He takes another step forward, lowering his voice again.

LARRY
You had my wife taken away in handcuffs.

A heavy silence.

LARRY
And you think I’m overreacting?

Bethany swallows hard.

BETHANY
I thought you’d understand.

Larry shakes his head slowly.

LARRY
No. You thought I’d choose your side.

That hits harder than anything else.

Bethany looks away.

BETHANY
I was trying to protect this family.

Larry’s expression hardens.

LARRY
By destroying it?

Jaden watches, caught in the middle.

JADEN
Please… just stop fighting.

Neither of them listens.

Larry takes a deep breath. His next words come out steady—but deadly serious.

LARRY
Withdraw the case.

Bethany hesitates again.

BETHANY
And if I don’t?

Larry doesn’t blink.

LARRY
Then I will.

A pause.

BETHANY
You will what?

Larry meets her eyes directly.

LARRY
File for divorce.

The words land like a shockwave.

Silence.

Bethany’s face changes completely—confidence replaced with disbelief.

BETHANY
You’re serious?

LARRY
I’ve never been more serious.

Jaden looks at his father, stunned.

JADEN
Dad…

Larry doesn’t look away from Bethany.

LARRY
You made a choice.

A beat.

LARRY
Now make another one.

Bethany’s breathing becomes uneven.

BETHANY
You’d really end everything… over this?

Larry’s voice softens—but only slightly.

LARRY
You already pushed it to the edge.

A long pause stretches between them.

Bethany looks conflicted now. The weight of her actions finally sinking in.

BETHANY
(quietly)
I didn’t think it would come to this.

LARRY
But it did.

Jaden steps forward again, desperate.

JADEN
We can fix this… right?

Larry finally glances at him. His expression softens for a moment.

LARRY
That depends.

He looks back at Bethany.

LARRY
On her.

All eyes turn to Bethany.

She stands there, frozen between pride and consequences.

The room feels suffocating.

Seconds feel like minutes.

Finally—

Bethany exhales slowly.

But she still hasn’t answered.

CUT TO BLACK.
