INT. LIVING ROOM – EVENING
Soft yellow light fills the room. A tense silence hangs in the air.
LARRY sits on the couch, scrolling through his phone, unaware. His face is calm… too calm.
The front door opens slowly.
BROOKE and DESTINY step in, exchanging nervous glances.
A secret weighs heavily between them.
They close the door quietly.
DESTINY
(whispering)
We have to tell him… I can’t keep this anymore.
BROOKE
(uneasy)
Bethany told us not to say anything…
A pause.
They both look at Larry.
He senses something.
LARRY
(looking up)
Why do you both look like that? What happened?
Silence.
Brooke steps forward, hesitant.
BROOKE
Larry… there’s something you need to know.
Larry sits upright. His expression sharpens.
LARRY
What is it?
Destiny takes a deep breath.
DESTINY
Bethany… gave us money for the Panama City trip.
Larry freezes.
The words hit hard.
LARRY
(confused)
What?
BROOKE
She said it was for us… to enjoy the trip.
DESTINY
But… she also told us not to tell you.
A long pause.
Larry slowly stands up.
The calm is gone.
LARRY
(quiet, intense)
She told you… to hide it from me?
BROOKE
We didn’t want to lie to you.
DESTINY
We felt guilty.
Larry runs his hand through his hair, pacing.
His mind races.
LARRY
(angry, controlled)
So she’s making plans… behind my back now?
The tension rises.
Suddenly—
The bedroom door opens.
BETHANY steps out, unaware of the storm waiting.
She smiles faintly.
BETHANY
Hey… you’re all back early—
She stops.
The room feels different.
Heavy.
BETHANY
(suspicious)
What’s going on?
Larry turns toward her slowly.
His eyes are sharp.
LARRY
You tell me.
Bethany’s smile fades.
BETHANY
What do you mean?
Larry steps closer.
LARRY
You gave them money… and told them not to tell me?
Bethany’s face stiffens.
Caught.
A beat of silence.
BETHANY
(defensive)
It wasn’t a big deal.
LARRY
Not a big deal?
His voice rises slightly.
LARRY
You went behind my back.
BETHANY
I was just helping them!
DESTINY
(softly)
Bethany…
BROOKE
We didn’t want to lie to him.
Bethany turns toward them, hurt flashing in her eyes.
BETHANY
So you told him anyway?
DESTINY
We had to.
BROOKE
It didn’t feel right.
Bethany looks betrayed.
Then back at Larry.
BETHANY
I didn’t tell you because I knew you’d react like this.
Larry laughs bitterly.
LARRY
No… you didn’t tell me because you knew it was wrong.
A sharp silence.
The air is thick with emotion.
BETHANY
(raising voice)
Wrong? Helping them is wrong now?
LARRY
No—hiding things from me is.
Bethany steps closer, matching his intensity.
BETHANY
You control everything, Larry! Every decision!
LARRY
Because this is my house!
BETHANY
And I’m your wife—not a guest!
The words hit deep.
Brooke and Destiny stand frozen, caught in the middle.
Larry exhales sharply, trying to regain control.
LARRY
(lower, firm)
This isn’t about money.
A beat.
LARRY
It’s about trust.
Bethany’s expression softens… just slightly.
But the tension remains.
BETHANY
(quiet, emotional)
I just wanted them to enjoy the trip… without feeling limited.
DESTINY
We appreciate it… we really do.
BROOKE
But secrets like this… they hurt everyone.
Bethany looks down.
Guilt creeps in.
Larry watches her carefully.
A long pause fills the room.
LARRY
So what else… are you hiding?
Bethany looks up—hurt, shocked.
BETHANY
Nothing.
LARRY
How do I know that?
Silence.
Bethany has no answer.
The trust between them cracks.
The room feels colder now.
DESTINY
(softly)
Maybe… we should all just calm down.
BROOKE
Yeah… this is getting out of hand.
Larry steps back, shaking his head.
LARRY
No… this needed to come out.
He looks at Bethany—disappointed.
LARRY
I don’t like being lied to.
Bethany’s eyes fill with emotion.
BETHANY
I didn’t lie… I just didn’t tell you.
LARRY
That’s the same thing.
A heavy silence.
No one moves.
No one speaks.
The damage is done.
Bethany turns away slowly, walking back toward the bedroom.
She stops at the doorway.
Without turning—
BETHANY
(quiet, broken)
I didn’t think it would turn into this.
She disappears inside.
The door closes softly.
Larry stands still.
Regret flickers across his face… but pride holds him back.
Brooke and Destiny exchange worried glances.
DESTINY
This… just got worse.
BROOKE
Yeah.
Larry sinks back onto the couch, staring blankly ahead.
Lost in thought.
The silence returns… heavier than before.
FADE OUT.
