Brooke and Isaiah Caught by Larry Unexpectedly

 INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

Dim light spills across a quiet room. The curtains sway gently as the ceiling fan hums above.

BROOKE and ISAIAH lie on the bed, side by side. There’s tension in the air—unspoken, heavy.

BROOKE
(softly, staring at ceiling)
We shouldn’t be doing this… it’s already too complicated.

Isaiah turns his head toward her, conflicted.

ISAIAH
I know… but walking away isn’t that easy either.

A silence lingers. The weight of choices hangs between them.

Suddenly—

The DOOR CREAKS open.

LARRY stands frozen at the entrance.

His eyes widen. Shock. Disbelief. Hurt.

A long, suffocating pause.

Brooke sits up instantly, panic flooding her face.

BROOKE
Larry—this isn’t what it looks like—

Larry steps inside slowly, his jaw tightening.

LARRY
(cold, controlled)
Then tell me… what does it look like?

Isaiah sits up too, running a hand through his hair, struggling to find words.

ISAIAH
Larry, I can explain—

LARRY
(interrupting, voice rising)
Explain WHAT?

The room feels smaller. Tension cracks like thunder.

LARRY (CONT’D)
I walk into my own place… and find THIS?

Brooke gets off the bed, moving toward him carefully.

BROOKE
Larry, please… just listen—

He steps back, creating distance.

LARRY
No. You listen.

His voice breaks slightly, emotion creeping through.

LARRY (CONT’D)
I trusted you.

That hits hard. Brooke freezes.

Isaiah stands, trying to remain calm.

ISAIAH
It’s not like we planned this—

Larry turns sharply toward him.

LARRY
Oh, that makes it better?

A bitter laugh escapes him.

LARRY (CONT’D)
So it just… happened?

Isaiah hesitates. That silence says enough.

Larry shakes his head, disappointment settling in deeper.

LARRY (CONT’D)
Unbelievable.

Brooke’s eyes well up. She takes another step closer.

BROOKE
Larry… I didn’t mean to hurt you.

He looks at her—really looks this time. Hurt replaces anger for a moment.

LARRY
But you did.

A quiet beat.

The fan continues spinning above, the only sound breaking the silence.

Isaiah exhales slowly.

ISAIAH
This isn’t just on her.

Larry scoffs.

LARRY
Oh, now you’re taking responsibility?

Isaiah stands his ground.

ISAIAH
Yeah. I am.

That shifts something.

Larry studies him, then glances back at Brooke.

LARRY
So what is this?

Neither answers immediately.

Brooke struggles, searching for the truth.

BROOKE
(conflicted)
I don’t even know anymore.

Larry’s expression hardens again.

LARRY
That’s the problem.

He turns away slightly, pacing a step, trying to process everything.

LARRY (CONT’D)
You don’t know… but you still made a choice.

Brooke wipes a tear quickly.

BROOKE
I never wanted things to get like this.

LARRY
But they did.

Another heavy silence.

Isaiah steps forward.

ISAIAH
Larry… whatever you’re thinking—

LARRY
I’m thinking I shouldn’t have walked in here tonight.

That lands like a final blow.

Brooke’s voice trembles.

BROOKE
Please don’t say that…

Larry looks between them one last time.

The betrayal sits in his eyes—raw, undeniable.

LARRY
I don’t even recognize either of you right now.

He heads toward the door.

Brooke instinctively reaches out.

BROOKE
Larry, wait—

He stops… but doesn’t turn around.

A moment of hesitation.

LARRY
(quiet, firm)
No.

And then—

He walks out.

The DOOR shuts.

Silence crashes back into the room.

Brooke stands there, frozen. Broken.

Isaiah exhales deeply, tension draining into exhaustion.

ISAIAH
That… went worse than I imagined.

Brooke doesn’t respond.

She slowly sits back down on the bed, staring at nothing.

BROOKE
(whispering)
I just lost him.

Isaiah looks at her, unsure what to say.

For once—no words feel right.

The fan continues spinning.

The night feels heavier than before.

FADE OUT.
