Jaden and Lyntee refuse to stay with Bethany See What Happen Next :(
INT. LARRY’S LIVING ROOM – EVENING
A tense silence hangs in the air. The room is neat, but emotionally chaotic. A faint ticking clock echoes.
LARRY stands near the couch, arms crossed, trying to stay calm.
The front door swings open.
JADEN and LYNTEE step inside, their faces tight with anger. A travel bag drops heavily onto the floor.
JADEN
(voice sharp, breathing hard)
We came all the way to Atlanta… and this is what we get?
LYNTEE
(looking around, disgusted)
Yeah… this is not what we expected at all.
LARRY
(confused, stepping forward)
What’s going on? You both just got here—
JADEN
(cutting him off)
No, Dad. Don’t act like you don’t know.
A beat. The tension thickens.
LYNTEE
(angry, controlled tone)
We’re not staying here… not with her.
LARRY
(sighs, already knowing)
Bethany?
JADEN
(firm, almost shouting)
Yes, Bethany!
Jaden paces aggressively across the room.
JADEN
We left everything behind, trusted you… and you expect us to live under the same roof with someone who clearly doesn’t want us here?
LYNTEE
(nods, hurt visible)
The moment we walked in… you could feel it. The attitude, the looks… it’s toxic.
LARRY
(trying to calm them)
Listen, you’re overreacting. She just needs time—
JADEN
(laughs bitterly)
Time? We don’t need time, Dad. We need respect.
A door creaks open.
BETHANY steps into the room, arms folded, expression cold but controlled.
BETHANY
(flat tone)
If you’re going to talk about me, at least say it to my face.
Silence drops like a hammer.
LYNTEE
(turns to her, eyes burning)
Oh, we were hoping you’d come out.
JADEN
(staring straight at her)
Let’s not pretend. You don’t want us here.
BETHANY
(defensive, chin raised)
I never said that.
JADEN
(mocking)
You didn’t have to.
LYNTEE
Your actions said enough.
Bethany steps forward, trying to maintain control.
BETHANY
I just think boundaries are important. This is my home too.
JADEN
(voice rising)
And we’re his family!
He points toward Larry.
JADEN
We shouldn’t feel like strangers in our own father’s house.
LARRY
(raising his voice slightly)
Enough!
Everyone freezes.
LARRY
(frustrated, conflicted)
This is not how this is going to go. You’re all acting like enemies.
LYNTEE
(soft but firm)
Because that’s how it feels.
A heavy pause.
JADEN
(steps closer to Larry)
We came here for you. Not for drama. Not for tension.
He shakes his head slowly.
JADEN
We’re not staying here if this is how it’s going to be.
LARRY
(pained)
So what are you saying?
Jaden looks him straight in the eye.
JADEN
(steady, unshaken)
We came all the way to Atlanta… but we will not stay with Bethany.
Silence.
Bethany’s expression tightens, but she says nothing.
LYNTEE
(grabs his bag)
We’ll figure something else out. A hotel, a friend… anything is better than this.
LARRY
(stepping forward, desperate)
You don’t have to leave. We can fix this—
JADEN
(shakes his head)
Not like this.
BETHANY
(coldly)
If they want to leave, let them.
Larry turns to her, shocked.
LARRY
(disappointed)
That’s not helping.
BETHANY
(shrugs)
I’m just being honest.
LYNTEE
(scoffs)
Yeah… we noticed.
Jaden picks up his bag.
JADEN
(quiet, but powerful)
You chose this, Dad.
Those words hit hard.
Larry stands frozen, guilt washing over his face.
LARRY
(low voice)
I didn’t choose anyone over you.
JADEN
(soft, hurt)
It doesn’t feel that way.
A long, painful pause.
LYNTEE
(to Jaden)
Let’s go.
They walk toward the door.
Larry takes a step forward—but stops. He doesn’t know what to say anymore.
LARRY
(voice breaking slightly)
Just… call me when you get somewhere safe.
Jaden hesitates at the door but doesn’t turn around.
JADEN
We will.
He opens the door.
Cool evening air rushes in.
LYNTEE
(glances back once)
We didn’t come here to fight… but we’re not going to stay where we’re not wanted.
They step out.
The door shuts.
INT. LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS
Silence returns, heavier than before.
Larry stands in the middle of the room, staring at the closed door.
Bethany remains still, arms crossed—but her eyes flicker with something unspoken.
LARRY
(quiet, almost to himself)
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
No response.
The ticking clock grows louder.
FADE OUT.
