Jaden Angry After Bethany Gave His Sister Birth Control Advice
INT. JADEN’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – EVENING
Dim light filters through the curtains. The room feels heavy, tense.
JADEN paces back and forth, jaw clenched, eyes burning with anger. His phone is still in his hand, the screen glowing faintly.
A long silence.
The front door opens.
BETHANY steps in, hesitant. She senses the tension instantly.
BETHANY
(softly)
Jaden… you’re home early.
Jaden stops pacing. Slowly turns. His eyes lock onto her.
JADEN
(cold, controlled)
Yeah. I am.
A beat. Silence stretches.
BETHANY
(trying to stay calm)
Is everything okay?
Jaden lets out a bitter laugh.
JADEN
Okay? You really want to ask me that?
Bethany stiffens. She takes a cautious step forward.
BETHANY
Jaden, what happened?
Jaden walks toward her, each step heavy with anger.
JADEN
I just came from the lawyer.
(beat)
Lyntee’s case… it’s getting worse.
Bethany’s face tightens.
BETHANY
I told you, I didn’t—
JADEN
(interrupting, sharp)
Stop.
Silence.
He runs a hand through his hair, frustrated.
JADEN
Because of all this… my family is already falling apart.
(voice rising)
And then I hear something else.
Bethany’s eyes flicker with unease.
BETHANY
What… what do you mean?
Jaden steps closer. Too close.
JADEN
I talked to my sister.
Bethany freezes.
JADEN
(voice low, dangerous)
She told me everything.
A long pause.
Bethany swallows hard.
BETHANY
Jaden, listen—
JADEN
(furious)
You told her to take birth control pills?
The words hit like a slap.
Silence crashes into the room.
Bethany looks down, unable to meet his eyes.
BETHANY
(quietly)
I was just trying to help her…
Jaden explodes.
JADEN
Help her?!
He turns away, pacing again, trying to control himself.
JADEN
You don’t “help” someone like that behind my back!
Bethany steps forward, desperate now.
BETHANY
She came to me, Jaden! She was scared, confused—she needed someone to talk to!
JADEN
And that someone had to be you?!
He turns sharply, pointing at her.
JADEN
You think you had the right to make that decision for her?
BETHANY
I didn’t make the decision! I just gave her advice!
Jaden shakes his head, disbelief all over his face.
JADEN
No. You crossed a line.
(voice breaking slightly)
First Lyntee’s case… and now this?
Bethany’s eyes fill with tears.
BETHANY
Why are you connecting everything? These are different situations!
JADEN
Because it’s the same pattern!
(angry)
You interfere. You make choices that aren’t yours to make!
Bethany steps back, hurt.
BETHANY
That’s not fair.
JADEN
Isn’t it?
A heavy silence.
Jaden’s breathing slows, but his anger remains.
JADEN
My sister trusts me. My family trusts me.
(beat)
And now… I don’t even know if I can trust you.
Those words cut deep.
Bethany’s tears fall.
BETHANY
(whispering)
I never meant to hurt anyone.
Jaden looks at her, conflicted—but still angry.
JADEN
Intentions don’t fix damage.
(soft but firm)
You should’ve told me.
BETHANY
I was afraid of exactly this reaction.
Jaden lets out a bitter sigh.
JADEN
So you hid it?
BETHANY
I was protecting her.
JADEN
No… you were avoiding me.
A pause.
Bethany wipes her tears.
BETHANY
Maybe I was. But that doesn’t mean I was wrong.
Jaden stares at her, stunned.
JADEN
You still think you’re right?
BETHANY
I think she needed guidance. And no one else was there.
(voice trembling)
Not even you.
That lands hard.
Jaden’s expression shifts—anger mixing with guilt.
But only for a second.
JADEN
That still doesn’t justify what you did.
Silence again.
The emotional weight fills the room.
BETHANY
(softly)
So what now?
Jaden looks away, struggling.
JADEN
I don’t know.
(beat)
Everything’s a mess right now… Lyntee’s case, my family… us.
Bethany takes a small step closer.
BETHANY
We can fix this.
Jaden doesn’t respond immediately.
JADEN
(quiet, distant)
I need time.
Bethany nods slowly, heartbroken.
BETHANY
Okay…
She turns slightly, as if unsure whether to stay or leave.
Jaden stands still, staring at the floor.
Two people. Same room. Miles apart.
FADE OUT.
