Larry Shocked After Receiving Divorce Papers Suddenly

EXT. MONTANA HIGHWAY – EVENING

Cold wind sweeps across the empty road. Snow begins to fall lightly. A car moves slowly through the vast, quiet landscape.

Inside, LARRY grips the steering wheel tightly. His eyes are tired but focused.

A long silence fills the car.

Only the sound of the engine and wind outside.

LARRY
(whispering to himself)
I just need peace… that’s all.

He exhales deeply, trying to calm his mind.

The road stretches endlessly ahead.

EXT. SMALL MOTEL – MONTANA – NIGHT

Larry’s car stops outside a small, dimly lit motel. The neon sign flickers слабly in the cold air.

He steps out, pulling his jacket tighter around him.

His breath turns into visible mist.

He walks toward the reception.

INT. MOTEL ROOM – NIGHT

A small, quiet room. A single lamp glows on a wooden table.

Larry drops his bag on the floor and sits on the edge of the bed.

He looks exhausted.

For a moment, everything is silent.

Then—

KNOCK KNOCK

Larry frowns.

He stands and opens the door.

No one is there.

Only an envelope lies on the ground.

LARRY
(confused)
What is this…?

He bends down and picks it up.

His name is written clearly on the front.

“LARRY”

His hands hesitate for a moment.

Something feels wrong.

Very wrong.

Slowly, he opens the envelope.

His eyes scan the paper.

The color drains from his face.

His breathing gets heavier.

The words blur for a second.

Then they become clear.

DIVORCE PAPERS

Larry steps back in shock.

The paper shakes in his hand.

His eyes widen.

His voice barely comes out.

LARRY
(whispering)
No… this can’t be real…

He sits down slowly on the bed, still holding the papers.

His mind races.

Flash memories hit him—

Bethany smiling…
Arguments…
Silence…
Distance growing between them…

He shakes his head, refusing to believe it.

LARRY
(angry, broken)
Why now? Why like this?

He stands up suddenly, pacing the room.

The paper crumples slightly in his fist.

He stops near the window.

Outside, snow falls harder.

Larry stares into the darkness.

His reflection in the glass looks empty.

Lost.

LARRY
(low voice)
Bethany… what did you do?

A long silence follows.

Only the wind answers him.

He opens the papers again, reading every line carefully this time.

Each word feels heavier than the last.

Final. Legal. Irreversible.

Larry sits back down.

This time, he doesn’t move.

His strength fades.

His shoulders drop.

LARRY
(softly)
I came here for peace… not destruction.

His eyes glisten but he refuses to cry.

He clenches his jaw.

Suddenly, his phone buzzes.

He looks at it.

UNKNOWN NUMBER.

For a moment, he hesitates.

Then he answers.

LARRY
(quiet)
Hello?

A pause.

Only static.

Then a breath on the other side.

BETHANY (V.O.)
cold, distant
It’s done, Larry.

Larry freezes.

His grip tightens.

LARRY
(shocked)
Bethany… why?

Another pause.

BETHANY (V.O.)
You left before fixing anything.

You thought distance would heal us.

It didn’t.

Larry closes his eyes in pain.

LARRY
I didn’t leave you… I left the chaos.

Silence.

Then—

The call ends.

Larry slowly lowers the phone.

The room feels smaller now.

He looks at the divorce papers again.

Then at the window.

Snow keeps falling.

LARRY
(whispering to himself)
This isn’t the end…

It can’t be.

He stands up slowly.

A new expression forms on his face.

Not peace.

Not anger.

Something heavier.

Determination.

FADE OUT.
